The first time I tried to make tortilla bowls I royally screwed up. I didn't really understand the directions and they came out really weird. I have since very nearly perfected the art of the tortilla bowl, and making it at home is a hundred times healthier than those tortilla bowls you get at a restaurant that are deep fried. Now as I think I've mentioned before, these still aren't very healthy because the amount of fat in a flour tortilla, but if you're looking for a cute presentation tortilla bowls are definitely the way to go. You can pretty much serve anything in tortillas bowls (though I don't recommend soup). I served some easy chicken and rice in mine.
1) Preheat oven to 425. Press tortillas into oven safe bowls to form bowl shape. Bake 10 minutes or until edges are golden. Let cool in bowl.
There is nothing better than being able to eat the vessel in which your meal is housed!

ReplyDeleteI'd never thought of just baking the tortillas a little bit and not frying them into bowls. What a great idea! Although, I do love fried flour tortillas so much...
