And I totally think you should pick up Omnivore's Dilemma. I am reading it now and it is completely changing the way I view food. I pretty much only shop at the farmer's market now, and just supliment with trips to the grocery store for some staples.

Also, I bet the reason that Thatboy thinks he doesn't like tomatoes but says he loves heirlooms is because heirlooms actually taste like tomatoes--unlike those things posing as tomatoes in the grocery stores.

And I haven't tried this recipe, yet, but it looks GOOD!Sarahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17871378614519456494noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9557714.post-68463796292935533392009-07-12T08:19:13.568-07:002009-07-12T08:19:13.568-07:00I wish I had your level of attention to a cookbook...I wish I had your level of attention to a cookbook to make my way through one. I like the caprese crepe...I usually don't like savoury stuff in crepes - but a caprese combo sounds like a good exception. My solution has been to buy aromatics and spices (like those kaffir limes that came to me from a loooooong way away) at whatever distance, but I have started trying to use more locally available (and therefore tastier) filler veggies, for lack of a better word. Like putting zucchini in all my Thai curries.

I'm excited to read about your reading of the book--boy that sounded weird. And, FWIW (re: the suck), I wish I could be there too! And I wish I could live near foodies and see them in person!Laurahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08817330846936634317noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9557714.post-65410919929850069862009-07-10T17:22:53.348-07:002009-07-10T17:22:53.348-07:00This is very cool!
